I noticed that your supposed to include MMX and SSE Use flags when you want multimedia support, which I have not done. As it stands now, my video playback tends to studder at times. Might these flags help?

Okay. xine-lib is recompiling now. Do I need to recompile anything else?

EDIT: I see a bunch of things listed next to "flags." Are there USE flags for all of those?

Unless it's listed here http://www.gentoo.org/dyn/use-index.xml, no.

To me, I'm curious about whether mmx is required when we have sse/sse2. I'm uncertain, myself.

That lists only global USE flags, here are listed local USE flags as well:

FYI. The current list of use flags is available in your machines portage
directory as well
Code:

/usr/portage/profiles/use.desc
/usr/portage/profiles/use.local.desc
