Made this yesterday evening...

Well, I can hardly give url's for all patches, because I did not keep track of it: started patching a week ago or so, and made a "collection" in that time, consisting of patches comming from very different places.
If you could precise more which ones you need, I could try to find the otigin again _________________ Working day and night to enhance the Linux Desktop Experience

Does nitro even have any speed advantages over this? |

Nitro uses -ck, including the staircase scheduler, so I would say yes, yes it does. This looks like a nice patchset for people afraid of -ck, though (but why those same people would even think of using reiser4... escapes me). _________________ Work is punishment for failing to procrastinate effectively.

Please see the announcement of -ikke3 for a small explanation why I made this. One of the main reasons is I dont like -ck and -mm is released slow lately
reiser4: its in there primary because I use it myself. If people dont use it, just don't enable it, it wont make your kernel slower/faster/more stable/less stable/...
This one is idd created for people who are new to patched kernels (next to gentoo-dev- of course which most new users use I guess), are afraid -mm and -ck (based) kernels are too unstable (nitro, love, no,...) etc etc etc. This could be a nice introduction to "not-so-vanilla" kernels. I try to stay away from all sheduling stuff etc. _________________ Working day and night to enhance the Linux Desktop Experience

keep up with the sources. im not a fan of nitro, morph, mm, whatever because they seem to screw up my audio with one of their patches. next kernel update i do will be your sources as they are exactly what i'm looking for.

OK i'm rebuilding my system after borking it trying to untar my system onto a reiser4 partiton. that doesnt work to well. they really really need a tool for this.....
anyway i went to use ur kernel and u have a small hiccup. i dont see why nobody else reported this yet... they obviously should have.
go check your ebuild. your patch file that is md5's is named differently than the file that is called upon when you emerge.
File MD5'd: linux-2.6.10-ikke4.patch.bz2
File called for: patch-2.6.10-ikke4.bz2
plz upload a fixed ebuild so others can use ur sources easer too.

This should be fixed...
I cannot try it myself due to lacking hard disk space ( ), please tell me whether it works now _________________ Working day and night to enhance the Linux Desktop Experience

Hi, thanks for your patchset! (and greetings from kontich / antwerp )
I am one of those weirdoes who converted their root partition to reiser4 while being afraid of -ck and -mm (I tried nitro but that one just seems to have a negative effect on my performance), so 2.6.10-ikke4 is exactly what I was looking for and seems to do the job very well until now.
Unfortunately for you, I didn't test the ebuild either, I patched my vanilla-sources manually. (which isn't that hard ) |

I've been using the 2.6.10-ikke3 kernel on several machines now and they all work great. =).
Will there be any updates to the ikke kernel so it uses 2.6.11 (with the reiser4 and philips usb webcam) now? |

I also would like to see an updated -ikke patchset, which hopefully isn't based on -mm. 2.6.10-ikke4 has been working absolutely flawless for me the last two months, but I 'd rather stay away from 2.6.10-ikke5 because it's -mm based. |
