Stopping esound gives error

Hi there

I have a 2.6.9-r13 gentoo box with x.org and Gnome 2.8.1

When I start my system, esound gets started normal (it says [ok]).
However, when I shutdown the box, the error message

I've go the same problem with 2.6.9-r9.

Also gives me the same error with stopping gdm.

Any ideas?
