i have set the emu10k1 to be built in (also tried as module), but couldn't get alsa to recognize my card.
also, i have seen that one some sites it says to use the emu10k2 module, since its more compatible with Audigy 2.
i looked in other threads, the instructions there aren't compatible with 2.6 kernels (or i might be just missing something).
if there is a guide for setting up Audigy 2 on a 2.6.x kernel, i'd be more than happy to view it

I belive there is 2 types of audigy2 cards(zs/ls).
I have a zs(?) and it works perfectly with the ordinary driver(emu10k1).
I think there is a Linux-driver on creatives homepage for the other type of Audigy cards around.

Maybe somebody knows the exact installation/driver solution for you.

good luck!

Sorry my bad!

The Audigy(1) card had two kinds of soundchips.

What kind of kernel are you using(how new?)
Check if the newest nitro-sources / ck-sources / mm-sources has the most recent ALSA version. (or compile it manually)

Audigy2 is supported with the new emu10k1 kernel-module.

Good luck!

i tried to put it as module but no luck setting alsa to work with it (it requested snd-seq module).
also, tried to put alsa as module, but it reports device in use when trying to load it.
