I'm using KDE and I want to do some wxWindows coding...just to get a feel for it and see if it's what I need.

I tried using KDevelop but I'm having problems getting it to recognize the wxWindows libraries.

I'm new to C++ but have been using Java & C# for years...so I'm not even sure if I'm doing things right. KDevelop appears to have built-in support for wxWindows but the base app it creates doesn't compile, I get an error with "exit code 1"...

Is there a better IDE/editor for use with wx? What is recommended for this type of development?

I emerged wxGlade and I like it, but I'm not sure about the code it generates and I'd *really* like an integrated environment...I'm spoiled, I'm used to IDEs like Visual Studio .NET and Eclipse.

Does eclipse support wxWindows (or wxWidgets, whatever it's being called these days).

Thanks!

There's Anjuta which IIRC has support for wxWindows.

I use Eclipse + CDT for my C++ IDE needs.

I've found this regarding Eclipse and wxWidgets integration:
http://wiki.wxwidgets.org/wiki.pl?Eclipse

haven't tried it myself, but Eclipse usually handles new libraries just fine.

I have used Anjuta for a while but switched to KDE a few months ago along with a migration to KDevelop. So far, I have no problems with KDevelop + wxGlade + wxWidgets. If you want, I can send you an example project.

I wish to develop C.net code on linux.. nothing GUI, just cli stuff, for my assignments at UNI !

So, can i use monodevelop with "Improve C# Plugin for Eclipse" to achive da same ?
also, will i need a windows platform to test my exe's ? or will the ide or mono framework have a test feature as well ?

Thannx,
Jazz

I agree. I use eclipse for pretty much everything at this point for my personal programming (Improve C# pluging, CDT plguing, Visual Editor Java Swing wysiwyg creator). I know eclipse handles Java libraries extremely well, unfortunately I have no input towards C++ libraries.
