I've been recompiling my kernel all day long, following the various pieces of information I have gleaned off the forum and the HOWTO to get DRI to work. The problem is that the information often seems contradictory, so I'm seeking some new help.
Step 1: Here is the output of lspci
0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technol0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Rage Mobility M3 AGP 2x (rev 02)ogies Inc Rage Mobility M3 AGP 2x (rev 02)
What chipset do I have? It is a Rage 128 or a Mach 64? Or neither?
I can post more information as needed. _________________ -------------------------------------------

AFAIK a Rage128.
For the kernel use the Rage128 DRI driver support.
For xorg-x11 the "r128" would be the correct driver.
IIRR I had something similar in my old laptop; 2D worked fine but no chance for 3D acceleration. |

So you think it's not really worth messing around with it? I only play a few games, and know that any OpenGL stuff is beyond what my card can handle. _________________ -------------------------------------------

Give it a try but don't get your expectations too high. |
