Well, I wanted to know, what does everyone play on linux? I have a decently long list:
Unreal Tournament - GOTY
Doom 3
Quake 3 Arena
Heavy Gear II
Return To Castle Wolfenstein
Enemy Territory
America's Army
I also plan to buy a copy of UT2004 when my funding allows it. But I'd like to know what else is out there that deserves my attention. I hear a lot of good things about many of the games that are on the market that work natively under linux. Oh yeah, please no cedega'd games. When you suggest something, let it be linux native. I have windows XP SP2 Pro, and I'll run windows games there. I want linux native goodness. Stuff truly worth playing in linux, not stuff that I have to emulate.
I play every game that is good in linux, in linux. I have NWN, but the movies get lost in the linux version, and so does aurora, so I won't play it there. Any game that I can find an excuse to play in linux, I'll play in linux out side of emulation...
So what do you guys call good stuff? I wanna know, seeing as how I'm a game freak. I mean, I'm always open to good games. OSS games I don't know about too, please! _________________ CPU: 3800+ X2 (2.5Ghz)

Well, I don't play any of the commercial games since they're not available for Linux/PPC, but I do play Angband, fish-fillets, Crack Attack!, LBreakout2, and most of those silly games included with GNOME.

Beyond Zork is an RPG text adventure and one of my favourite DOS games of all time with the possible exception of the graphical RPG Wasteland (which was the precursor to Fallout) and Zork Zero. _________________ The free market gave me gonorrhea. |

uhm, the poll lists ONLY games that run native under linux (not sure about the army one...)
but unreal tournament 2004 is where it is at. Doom3 is kind of fun for about 25 minutes (I enjoyed it more watching people play) and quake3 (ala RocketArena) is aging quickly and online competition is frustrating. |

On Linux, the only native games I really play a lot are Enemy Territory and Neverwinter Nights. Oh, and Nethack too, when I'm bored. |

Good suggestions. As you can tell, I am an FPS fan (hell I didn't even realize it til now). So, any good fps that are free or OSS out there? I've heard of the UT hacks, and I'm interested. They have any ebuilds that work for them? _________________ CPU: 3800+ X2 (2.5Ghz)

I have much the same games but the two I play online are et and u2k4 (onslaught). A pity we don't have windows' selection. Even so I'm yet to visit all the maps in ut2k4... part way through cbp-v1, and downloaded cbp-v2 but not unpacked it yet. |

I still like Unreal GOTY much better than 2004. I mean, something about how expansive it is detracts from it. _________________ CPU: 3800+ X2 (2.5Ghz)

Well, both games are alright, but I just had to vote 'They both suck' because the poll is so narrow and hence poor. _________________ Want Free games?

Let's see, I play the following games.
Unreal Tournament 2003
Unreal Tournament 2004
Doom 3
Quake 3 Arena
Soldier of Fortune
Heavy Gear 2
Heavy Metal: FAKK2
Tribes 2
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Enemy Territory
Descent 3
America's Army
I'm sure there are others, but these are the only ones I can think of at this time. _________________ Ex-Gentoo Developer

Haven't had time to play anything for weeks (or even months), but nothing beats Doom/Quake series for me. |

I can sympathize with that. Does anybody know of anything new? I want something I haven't heard of, so if you got any ideas, lemme know! _________________ CPU: 3800+ X2 (2.5Ghz)

Running enemy territory, quake3 (+-urbanterror), doom3 all working great on linux/bsd.
Warcraft 3 is also good and runs better on wine (not necessarily winex or cedega) then in windows :p |

Yeah, although nobody could have told me different before I learned it for myself, but games built specifically for linux, are way faster than games built specifically for windows. This does not include rush-ports, I'm talking about, go the store and actually buy a CD that works only in linux, type stuff. Heavy Gear II ran so stable it was scary when my last computer was running gentoo, and it only got 400 fps in GLXgears. Wonder how it will do when I use it on my new comp that gets somewhere around 13500 fps. _________________ CPU: 3800+ X2 (2.5Ghz)
