Hi,
How can I remote manage my gentoo box?
I would like to be able to see the gnome desktop remotely.
I do not know how to install VNC.
could someone help me.

I tried to install x11 but I could not get it to work.
I have not tried screen. I do not know how to get this working.

I and having trouble remote in to my gentoo box by vnc.
I ran
after that I ran
It ask me for a password.
from my laptop I have realvnc viewer.
I tried to connect to the IP address of my gentoo box 10.1.11.51
and I get a message "failed to connect to server"
The gentoo box has two Network cards in it. I tried the other ip address
10.1.11.52. It gave me the same error. |

10.1.11.51:1
or
10.1.11.52:1 |

Ok I was able to connect by 10.1.11.51:1
but I just get a gray screen.
Two question:
Is there away that I don't have to put the :1 at the end of the ip address?
Why am I just gettnig a gray screen?

A post of mine explaining screen.
Hope it helps.
I'm not a VNC users so I wouldn't know about that, but X over SSH should work.
The computer you're sitting at, needs X.org (or similar) installed. You can get ms windows X servers if you need it. Then you configure your ssh client to transport X11 info over ssh. I'm not sure of the specifics right now.

I assume you're talking about x11 over ssh.
Learn Screen anyway. It's priceless.
