Weather Report cannot select my city

No cities/states show up in Weather Report, version 2.8.2. i recompiled gnome and many base packages and i cannot seem to fix this issue. what can i try next? there is nothing in the portage tree that seems to fit this app. thanks for the help

ps: this is the weather applet that you can add to gnome-panel by right clicking on the panel and choosing" add to panel "

Does it work with a brand new user account? If so, you might have to delete all the .gnome*, .gconf* directories in your user $HOME.

i did forget to mention i tried that

whups

rm -rf ~/.gnome* out of frustration
