grent,
Do you need windows to read the RAID system or not. There may be different answers depending on that requirement.
Als search for some of my posts in RAID threads Over the last 3 weeks. _________________ Regards,

It would also help to know what type of RAID controller you are using. |

It's pretty easy, I routinely do it on some fancy RAID setups.
You need to use a Knoppix bootable CD, it carries a lot of tools that are missing from the Gentoo install CD (hint hint). With Knoppix and a simple RAID, it will start your arrays for you (if you have autostart enabled...and you should do that) and then you can follow the normal installation procedure. For fancy RAID setups (striped mirrors for instance or failing to have autostart setup), you setup the /etc/raidtab file on the knoppix image and then start the arrays (use raidstart of course) and proceed as before. _________________ Being a Gentoo user means living in a house inhabited by a family of crazed carpenters. When you wake up, the house is different. Maybe there is a new turret, or some walls have moved, or perhaps someone has removed the floor under your bed. |
