I recently "upgraded" my machine and the new mobo I got came with an onboard video card which in some manner supports 3D acceleration in Windows.

The mobo uses a SiS741GX + SiS963L chipset and the video is Real256E 3D Graphics with 64M share memory. (I'm grabbing these directly off newegg.com's page.) I'm a bit unsure as to how to configure X so that I get hardware acceleration from this card. (Previously I had a TNT2 card and using nVidia's drivers was a snap.)

So really, my question is is it possible to get 3D acceleration in Linux or should I toss my TNT2 card back in here? (I don't play video games, but I did get caught up programming something with OpenGL just the other day which started my quest to get acceleration.)

Edit: I read the hardware 3D acceleration guide which stated that only 300 series SiS cards supported acceleration. I am currently running X with the sis driver but glxinfo says that direct rendering is not available.
