I'm currently trying to learn a bit of unix for work, so I went around looking at emu's and distros.
I've installed Gentoo before and like the way it works, so I was please to find the "Gentoo RR4 LiveCD". A rather cool, unsupported LiveCD that give you KDE and other desktops.
I quickly got sick of restarting my PC to boot into Linux for the training, I then had an idea.
I'm using an MSDN copy of M$ Virtual Server 2005. Now the docs state that it works for MS software only. Well thats a challange!
I copied the ISO of the Live CD to the Virtual server machine. Created a new virtual server and booted the ISO.
To my great surprise, IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!! It worked without a single change to the Live CD!
So those lucky enough to have XP/Server 2003 AND Virtual Server 2005, you can now get your favorite environment without major changes to your PC! Perfect while at work where you can't reformat your PC to get your Linux partitions!
Next test is to try and do a full gentoo install! |

No, the docs don't say that, you misread them. They say that only Microsoft operating systems are supported, i.e. you're entitled to the support helpdesk answering your questions only if you install Microsoft operating systems into the virtual machine. The docs clearly say that Linux works just fine, the only thing is they won't help you if something doesn't work. _________________ Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://tinyurl.com/jrcto
