I have a small network with WinXP, Gentoo, and OSX clients and a central Gentoo server. I was wondering what would be the easiest way to share file (read and write) and print services to all people on the network with minimal setup for the clients. I was thinking of using Samba but I don't think that works with OSX. What's the best way to accomplish this?

I would say that Samba is your best option. The following Apple KB article states OS X 10.1 or greater supports SMB client access: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106471
