i want to use exim MTA because i use mysql to store mail users instead of using system users.
Is there a way to install a cron daemon without install sendmail.... or is it a must?
because usually i just make a sym link so that when sendmail is called it just points to my exim mta

I don't think so? I use vixie-cron and it installed a simple mail relayer (ssmtp) with it, but not sendmail itself.
Which cron daemon are you trying to use?
