Greetings everyone. I just emerged vmware-workstation and installed Windows XP (no applications installed) and even after removing unnecessary services, it's seems much slower than it was when I installed it on Slackware several months ago (Gentoo has been faster than Slackware in basically everything else so far ). Has anyone else experienced this? I'm running the 2.6.10-r1 kernel on a 1.6 Ghz Pentium-M Dell Latitude. Maybe it has something to do with the way I compiled VMware? Here's my make.conf if it's relevant:
CFLAGS="-march=pentium-m -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" |

i had this problem, i suggest not using XP because its too bloated for general use (i use it for playing games i cant in linux) but i found if i run it within the 1st 12 hours of my system being on its runs perfectly, any longer like a day, vmware gets pretty laggy. good luck. |
