2.4.x kernel .config file for Thinkpad T21?

I am having problems getting my Thinkpad T21 to work with a 2.4.26 kernel from a new install. The installation completes successfully, but in upgrading (emerge system) it has locked up hard twice during compiling.

This system works reliably on an identical hard disk with a 2.6.8 Gentoo kernel installed.

So, could somone provide me a known working .config file and make.conf options from a Thinkpad T21 or similar so I can eliminate that possibility (or get it to work, even better). My exact model is 2647-8AU. Specs:

PIII
Savage IX video
Intel miniPCI ethernet/modem card

If you have a Thinkpad near that vintage with that hardware, please send me the .config, the kernel version, and the make.conf.
