I have gotten HAL and DBUS working again in gnome somehow, but now when most devices are mounted, the permissions only let root have read acces. I can add lines in my fstab for some devices, like my internal cd-rom, and then it works, but I thought the idea was that HAL/DBUS/pmount would let stuff be mounted without user intervention.
For my usb flash drive, I am able to use it as a user now after chmodding the mount folder, but that doesn't work for my usb dvd+rw drive. It seems to always mount data disks as gid 1000 and I can't figure it out...
Do I need to edit udev rules or something? _________________ It's all funny until someone gets hurt.

Is your user account a member of the plugdev group? That seems to be the most common reason for various automount failures. |
