I recently switched to Kmail from Thunderbird. I like how it integrates with KDE, and I am giving it a try for a while.

Two things are driving me crazy:

1) (MAIN PROBLEM) I really like how Thunderbird automatically creates an address book from people I have emailed in the past. That way, when I want to send a new message to John Smith, all I need to do is type the first few letters of 'Smith', and it will generally autocomplete the name and email address. This is a great feature.

Is there any way to have Kmail do this? Currently, it will autocomplete entries that are in KAddressBook; however, I don't see it automatically adding people that I have emailed. The only solution seems to be manually adding people, which is too time consuming to be effective for day-to-day emailing (esp when Tbird will do it automatically).

2) (MINOR PROBLEM) I like how new messages show up on the top of the list in Thunderbird. When I have Kmail set to sort messages with newest on top, and a new message comes in, I need to scroll the window up in order to see it. Not a huge problem, but a small annoyance. I use IMAP.

Thanks for your help
-Andrew

re 1) Does Thunderbird do this on it's own or does it use an imap address book? The former no, the latter: Open Kaddressbook, click on the Add... button bottom left and choose "Addressbook on imap server via KMail".
