Lads i installed a 32 bit system on an amd64 a few months ago now and i now want to try and migrate my system to use nptl but when i went and looked at my make.conf i have.
CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -pipe -O2"
CHOST="i386-pc-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
The nptl guide says u cannot use nptl if chost is i386 but i am sure there is a reason i used I386-pc-linux-gnu instead of i686 but i cannot remember. Are those the correct settings for a 32 bit system on an amd64 ? |

i686 should work just fine for your chost variable, that's what I'm using for my athlon-xp system. If you do decide to change it to i686, don't forget that you will have to recompile everything on your system. _________________ Gentoo...it's like wiping your ass with silk. Or sandpaper. |

I think theres a specific reason i left the value as i386. I think its when i was researching howto go about installing a 32 bit system on an amd64 but i cannot remember nor find any guide to that since. |
