Ok, I have a strange problem and Mr. google doesn't seem to be able to help...
I'm using fluxbox and firefox. Now i was going to update mozilla via their "automatic update" (which btw i figured wasn't a good idea after i thought about it for a bit, should probably emerge it). Now if I'm logged in as a user and try to auto-update it will give me a read only error b/c I'm not root. So I tried to xhost +localhost so I could start firefox and update it...
Problem:
bash: xhost: command not found
Ideas? Someone mentioned that the $PATH might be wrong but I'm not sure what it should point to or how to change it if it is wrong...

Waw, some problem for me.
I tried today after su type xhost, but too I get
Code: | bash: xhost: command not found |
Next I tried:
Code: |
bash-2.05b# which xhost
which: no xhost in (/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin)
bash-2.05b# ls /usr/X11R6/bin | grep xhost
xhost
|
So something is wrong with my ROOTPATH?
For normal user xhost is normally found.
I remember, that yestarday I have similar problem. I take a script in /usr/local/bin, but it was also not in my path.
Anybody should explain, please? What I have to do? |

radfoj:
Try instead of su. Or just Code: | source /etc/profile | if you have already run su.
Also, you probably could have done the xhost command as a normal user before you su... |
