Now I use the kernel 2.6.7-ck4, and when I load the "lp" module I get this message in the log:
Code:
parport0: PC-style at 0x378 (0x778) [PCSPP,TRISTATE]
parport_pc: Via 686A parallel port: io=0x378
lp0: using parport0 (polling).

After that the printer works well!

Now I want to upgrade to the 2.6.10, I've tried the ac6, ck2, cko3, gentoo-r4, but with all al this I got this message:
Code:
parport_pc: Ignoring new-style parameters in presence of obsolete ones
parport_pc: VIA 686A/8231 detected
parport_pc: probing current configuration
parport_pc: Current parallel port base: 0x378
parport0: PC-style at 0x378 (0x778), irq 7, using FIFO [PCSPP,TRISTATE,COMPAT,ECP]
parport0: Printer, EPSON Stylus COLOR 760
parport_pc: VIA parallel port: io=0x378, irq=7
lp0: using parport0 (interrupt-driven).

and after that the printer is unavailable: don't work and also mtink can't get the ink level!
Can someone give me a clue?

Thanks in advance

bye

Hi
I've added this:
Code:
# cat /etc/modules.d/i386
...............other stuff...................
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
options parport_pc io=0x378 irq=none

and then
Code:
#modules-update

Now the printer work well for me and I can see the ink level (Epson Stylus Color 760)

I hope that this help you!
Bye
