This problem is nothing major, and Im sure theres a simple solution to it, but its starting to get on my nerves... What happens is that my system boots up fine, it sets the hostname with the init.d scripts (as well as dnsdomain name), but when getty comes up, I get this:

how can I change it to get something like "hostname.domain.org"? Ive tried setting the dnsdomainname, the hostname to "hostname.domain.org", but It always suffixes it with .(none)!

Well apparently there's a new way to do this in conf.d but I put the domainname is /etc/dnsdomainname, /etc/domainname and /etc/nisdomainname. Also make sure the /etc/hosts entry is correct with both an fqdn and a short version:

Um.... I have a dialup connection and my IP changes each time I connect, what should I put in /etc/hosts?
