im looking for the best supported (and reasonably priced) dvd+rw-rw drive (ideally support for both, but otherwise whiche ever you think is better) that has support for linux.
it is for a desktop im building, so it needs to be internal.
thanks,

As far as "supported" - they all work, because the interface is generic and any extentions, such as Burn Proof, are fully supported by all the tool sets.
Try www.videohelp.com for reviews / user experiences. I like the NEC drives. Get a Maddog if you want a cheap NEC. _________________ Teilo who is called Teilo |

Hei killfire
I have used a NEC 1100a burner for ages with no problems, and have just upgraded to a 3520a. The following is a review in which the NEC 3500 comes out well amongst a bunch of others.

It works fine with the latest k3b and with packet-writing on dvd+rw media, running development-sources-2.6.11-rc1.
And they are absurdly cheap!

Just about any internal drive these days will be +/- and supported in Linux and BSD. I'm going to recommend NEC too; the only issue I've had with my 1300A was needing to upgrade the firmware to support 4x with the Ritek media I usually buy. |
