When I try to run kde off of KDM, it will just sit there with a blank green screen... I can actually get KDE to fully load and be functional if i startx then startkde inside startx. But when I try to run startkde from the command line without starting x or kdm, it says "cannot connect to X server" whenever I try to load it. I have setup my Xorgconfig and everything, and kde works flawlessly as long as its running under startx, but it just will not start from kdm. I would like to get it running outside of basic X because well, thats what it is for. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

hmmmm... I redid my sync's on my xorg.conf and set them to what my monitor manual said, and now what happens is when i try to login to kde from kdm, the screen sits at nothing for a second, it will shut off, turn back on, and go back to the kdm login screen... this is really confusing because fluxbox/startx works just perfectly fine, and I can even get kde running in fluxbox. Argh!! I have no idea what this problem could be, beings as technically my X config seems legit.

Hello
You may try making a .xinitrc in your home dir and put startkde in there.
I have no idea how it works, but I have startkde and gnome and enlightenment
in there, and just uncomment the environment I want to boot to.
I'm having problems starting X as well, but on a different problem.
Hope this helps.
