I attached a printer to my gentoo box running gnome2. How do I add the printer to gnome so I can select it from the gnome apps? I have added it to Open Office per the excellent gentoo printing guide. For gnome printers the only one listed is gnome default printer (PS,lpr).
Thanks, _________________ Hope this helps!

Assuming you're using CUPS, the "lpr" command will print just fine to your default CUPS printer. Your Gnome app outputs Postscript, lpr sends it to CUPS and CUPS interprets it as long as it's set up properly. You don't need to "add" a specific printer, AFAIK. If you want to print to a specific printer then something like lpr -P PrinterName should do the trick. |
