|
|
Hi,
I just bought an Aspire 1524WLMi and installed a Gentoo for amd64 on it.
Everything works fine, except for the fan. It acts in a real weird way.
- CPU at 2,2GHz: the fan is permanently on, and when there is some activity on the laptop it raises higher speed and never decrease.
- CPU at 1,8GHz: (via cpufreq) the fan always turns and stay at the same speed, whatever the load.
- CPU at 800MHz: the fan acts "normally" ; when there is no activity, it's on for ~30s every 5minutes ; when laptop's load raises, it turn permanently
DSDT provided doesn't inlude fan managment, and I would not say a word about the BIOS, if it still can be called a BIOS.
So I emailed the support about my problem, and big news:
Fan management is only provided by a specific XP driver, and we can not provide you a BIOS with such kind of adjustment. (...) Technical documentation is not freely available for this product.
So, has anyone got an idea on the subject, a magic formula...
And if not, what would be the easiest and/or best way: start from the windows driver, try to incorporate fan management into the DSDT, buy a new laptop...
Any help is welcomed. |
