I would say no, at least until Namesys themselves declares reiser4 as stable.

i say no as well.

i would not use filesystems which are not supported in vanilla
kernels with any system on which others rely, such as a server.

i will say yes when reiser4 is as good a choice as reiserfs.

Besides the possible issues with stability reiser4 also (as far as I know) still doesn't support resizing which might be quite important for servers which use LVM.

No! On a server you want the MOST stable and reliable FS
you can get - reiser4 might be there in a year or two, but not now.

Why would you even ask this question? Its not even in the mainline kernel yet, with the "new development" model I'd expect it to be added when everybody's satisfied it actually works right and reliably.

if it were my job on the line, yell no.

what i would say is you could possibly use it for your applications, but anything with data that needs to be recovered and isnt backed up would require a tried and tested file system.

the term server is a bit generic, for example if you are talking about a home web server then i would say go for it, on the other end of the scale if your employed to run a 24/7 mission critical platform id be out looking for ultra well tested hardware/software
