Anyone got this one running (either Wine or WineX-2.2.1 would do it for me)...
I got this for my gf this x-mas and now she's nagging me to get it running on my box so we can enjoy a good worm-melee....
The installer borks under Wine, runs fine under WineX
Patched the game with patch from official site (www.team17.com)
Trying to start the game under WineX just fails, no error messages or anything no core dumped just plain dies. Same thing in Wine (both before and after copying relevant system.reg keys from WineX to Wine).
Running
XFree86 4.2.1 using nividias drivers 16 bit depth @ 1152*864 (have tested different depths and resolutions)
Kernel 2.4.19-gentoo-r10
CPU Amd XP 1800+
384 MB Kingston DDR PC2100
I simply refuse to install Windows on my box just to get this one game
running....
And yes 've gotten other games running under both Wine and WineX so they're not (too badly anyways) misconfigured
Swift reply's appreciated, we'd like to play a bit before she's gonna have to go back to school... _________________ Oh, meltdown. It's one of those annoying buzzwords. We prefer to call it an unrequested fission surplus.

i've looked up the game in the games-db at www.transgaming.com and it got a work rating of 0 out of 5. you will not get this game to work if you aren't a good programmer to support the wine project . sorry lad. _________________ If you fall off a cliff, you might as well try to fly. [edit] enti's fingers be faster than mine [/edit]
from transgaming.com (winex):
Other peeps are having trouble getting Worms Armageddon to work, and Worms 2 doesn't seem to work either....
If your really desperate and its not against your social or relegious principles you could try to get it to run under a win installation on VMware... I've never tried to run any games that way, and am not sure direct X would work.
Great game though... long live the banna bomb!

DirectX does NOT work in vmware. Sorry. Perhaps since you have a transgaming.com account you should vote on this game. |

A couple of days ago I installed Winex cvs and got Worms World Party running flawlessly with the exception of sound. The game speed was comparable to windows, but the sound had pops and clicks so I turned it off. Then again I didn't install the game, I just copied it from another comp. If I were you I would download it from a file sharing prog or transfer the actual worms folder from an installation of windows on another comp with a burner or something and then play around with the wine settings a little bit. |

What I'd really like would be a Worms clone... There's a clone for its predecessor, Scorched Earth (xscorch, portage), but it's incomplete (no teamplay!) and development has been halted. A game like Worms shouldn't be that hard, comparatively, to duplicate, and an open-source clone would mean that we can create newer, wackier weaponary. _________________ Tactless

Hey danman, can you give some more information on how you got wwp to work? I'd really like to get this game up and running, but i can't seen to get it to work. Do you still run it from the cd? Do you specify a winver? anything would be helpful. |

if you can find a playstation one version of wwp, you're good to go with epsxe. _________________ [resident anime junkie] -- not just a linux freak. |

Worms armaggedon works fine with WineX 3.0 (pre) except for net play and crashes on loading missions... but deathmatch and quickplay are just fine to kill some time (and worms).
world party: i just can't get it to work... plain dies, as you said...
Tried on vmware4, and it gets in, gets out... I didnt know DX didnt work... |
