Today when I tried a emerge -up world it failed on kdelibs with the following error

Code:
grep: /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/libstdc++.la: No such file or directory
/bin/sed: can't read /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/libstdc++.la: No such file or directory
libtool: link: `/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/libstdc++.la' is not a valid libtool archive
make[3]: *** [libartskde.la] Error 1

It's yet another libtool issue. The solution can be found elsewhere by searching, but here it is:

(I assume you upgraded gcc from 3.3.4 to 3.3.5)

as root:

fix_libtool_files.sh 3.3.4

When it's done, emerge -u kdelibs again.

Sorry but I did search with the error message in a few different formats and got 0 results. Thanks for your quick response. :D

Yeah, the original solution is Problems after upgrade gcc to 3.3.5 (solution) but most KDE users first see this as a KDE upgrade problem.

This is more for anyone searching this - but I saw this with kdelibs and kspell. Anything to save people a little time and running around.
