Woot!!

I just figured out how to get Limewire to load faster.

Goto Tools->Options->Advanced->Firewall Config and under Router Configuration, select "Do Nothing". This will stop the UPnP Manager from starting which kills the load time for Limewire. HOWEVER, THERE ARE CAVEATS. Only do this is you do not have a HW firewall, or if you know how to manually configure said firewall.

In order to get Limewire to work decently, I had to manually configure my router to allow traffic in on port 6346. In fact, I set it up so that the firewall only ever opens this port when it detects an outgoing connection on 6346 (which LW does on startup).

As soon as I turned this option off, LW started very quickly (in a few seconds as opposed to a few minutes). As well, my connection speed went from Excelent to Turbo Charged. Results from searchs seem to come back faster now as well.

Hmmm??? I opened the port in bastille but that doesn't' seem to help. It seems to be cracking up over blackdown in that part but when I do this I find:

I have been using limewire 4.8.1 w/ blackdown-jre 1.4.2.01-r1 with no trouble. I recently upgraded blackdown to 1.4.2.02, and limewire would no longer launch. When launching from command line, I received an error message regarding java and line 4 of the executable script. I went back to 1.4.2.01-r1, which fixed the problem. Has anyone figured out why 1.4.2.02 mucks it up?
