|
|
Greetings,
I am having problems accessing second level directories/files inside a windows partition.
The vfat partition mounts without any errors and I can access all the files and directories level as root.
When I try to access them as a normal user, I get directory listings up to the second level, but I cannot read/execute any of the files inside or read the contents of other directories inside them...
The /etc/fstab entry for the vfat partition is set to the defaults, as specified in the gentoo-install guide...
Does anyone has an idea what could be the problem here?
Another question, how can I configure the windows partition to be writeable by normal users?
thank you |

I'm not sure of the exact write answer, but the workarounds I use are changing the ownership of the /mnt/vfat to 666 and in fstab making it noauto,rw,users then mounting the drives as the user _________________ What Larry was saying is that if you make it too easy for programmers, then poor programmers will be able to do things best left to good programmers, and will inevitably do them poorly. User can mount Ntfs but not enter directory. Why? should help with how to mount windows drives. The only difference should be the reference to ntfs or vfat. Have you followed those steps?

If you've finished the install guide, look somewhere else. But if you're still working your way through it, or just need some info before you start your install, this is the place. |
