I am doing a first emerge -uDv world and I get this error:
Code:
grep: /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/libstdc++.la: No such file or directory
/bin/sed: can't read /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/libstdc++.la: No such file or directory
libtool: link: `/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/libstdc++.la' is not a valid libtool archive

make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

!!! ERROR: media-libs/libsdl-1.2.7-r3 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 113, Exitcode 2
!!! emake failed
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

I have reinstalled gcc but this did not help...
Searched the forums and ran:
Code:
emerge lib-compat
and still gety the same result..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.. I am halfway through the world update and can't stop now !!!!!

Sounds like gcc is misconfigured. First I would try setting gcc to use the most current configuration:
Code:
etc-update
gcc-config -l
gcc-config <insert the newest gcc listed>
env-update

If that doesn't work, try reinstalling gcc. If you are still having problems, post your emerge info so we can see what's running on your system.

I have previousy reinstalled gcc....

I reset gcc-config to a different & higher gcc then ran it again.. It always stops at:
Code:

ctFB_yuv.lo -ldirectfb -lpthread -ldl   -lpthread
grep: /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/libstdc++.la: No such file or directory
/bin/sed: can't read /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/libstdc++.la: No such file or directory
libtool: link: `/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/libstdc++.la' is not a valid libtool archive
make[3]: *** [libvideo_directfb.la] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/libsdl-1.2.7-r3/work/SDL-1.2.7/src/video/directfb'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/libsdl-1.2.7-r3/work/SDL-1.2.7/src/video'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/libsdl-1.2.7-r3/work/SDL-1.2.7/src'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

Any other ideas ?
