I have gentoo 2.6.10-gentoo-r4 installed. Still having video problems.

Say the above is the full six of my monitor screen. The image is only on the center square. I know it can be show full screen. It works on the livecd.
I am using a Trident video card. Frambuffers was causing a problem and I couldn't figure out how to turn it off so I did the following. Used VGA and VESAFB and renamed the tridentfb.o and .c in the source so they weren't compiled. I would like to use framebuffers and get both in text mode and X mode a full screen high resolution. Can anyone help me on this? Thanks. _________________ /\/\/\/\ GreatWhiteShark /\/\/\ |

I only get a resolution of 640x480 when starting up. Of course X (having its own configuration) works fine. So it's the framebuffer which I have not yet found a way to make work.
However, I have not looked much into this problem as I wanted to wait for your answar. The solution may be straight ahead. The interesting part of my dmesg:
Code: | tridentfb: framebuffer size = 16384 kb
tridentfb: 0000:01:00.0 board found
tridentfb: 1024x768 flat panel found
tridentfb: fb0: Trident frame buffer device 640x480-8bpp |
So I'm not being fooled. It says right there that the framebuffer only start up at the rather low resolution. But how do I change it? I have tried to change a few kernel (2.6.10 gentoo-dev-sources) parameters, however, as it didn't turn out successful I'd rather wait for an answer. |
