Can anyone tell me how to tell Linux not to try and use any fancy fonts or framebuffers on a C200 PA-8200 Workstation?
It seems like the liveCD boots just fine, but I just get a blank screen!
Surely I can tell Linux not to boot into any framebuffer mode, but just to output plain text to the system console? _________________ --[ UltraSPARC ]--

OK, found a solution that worked for me.
now the thing is this, you have to know what monitor you are using on your box, i did this
ADMIN_PROMPT >
CO
MO
shows a list of monitors, look at the numbers, and you will see 0-3, select the number with your monitor next to it
then in the config for IPL edit the line
sti=8/0 to sti=8/x (insert monitor number here, for me it was 3, and all is now working.)
im extracting my stage file and about to compile the OS... ^.^ _________________ I own 3 HP 9000/C110 boxes, One is working, and 2 are spare parts.

Are you sure your framebuffer is supported? This may not be the case -- there are some graphic chipsets out there that no-one (other than the makers) knows anything about.
(the XZ graphics on SGI Indy and Indigo2 systems is one example)
Have you tried using serial console? (Note... I've never used HPPA ever... so I can't help you much here) _________________ Stuart Longland (a.k.a Redhatter, VK4MSL)
I haven't lost my mind - it's backed up on a tape somewhere...

also, the 2004.3 CD isnt working on my C110, it just blanks out, like the prblem ur having so i used 2004.2 instead and use the stage tarball from 2004.3 and it seems to be working so far, im recompiling my kernel just to make sure that it compiled correctly, and ill let you know what happens from here... _________________ I own 3 HP 9000/C110 boxes, One is working, and 2 are spare parts.
