|

Hello everybody
I need to install Sun`s JRE 1.5.0.01
I have tried the following commands :
Code: |
emerge --search sun-jre
Searching... e
[ Results for search key : sun-jre ]
[ Applications found : 1 ]
* dev-java/sun-jre-bin [ Masked ]
Latest version available: 1.5.0.01
Latest version installed: [ Not Installed ]
Size of downloaded files: 31,890 kB
Homepage: http://java.sun.com/j2se/
Description: Sun's J2SE Platform
License: sun-bcla-java-vm

Since the package is masked, I downloaded it manually, in 'bin' format from Sun. There is an inconsistency here.
Portage states that the bin should be abour 32MB, but the one Sun gives is about 16MB.
After downloading the JRE, as it is (aka 16 MB), I copied it to /usr/portage/distfiles and then tried to emerge it.
Code: |
emerge sun-jre
Calculating dependencies
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "sun-jre".

What am I doing wrong? Does there exist another version of the JRE?
thx, in advance
