|
|
Ok, my 3D acceleration was working perfectly under XFree86, but last time I updated my system, Xfree86 was replaced with Xorg and it broke my 3D acceleration.
I have a Radeon 9000 with 128MB RAM.
Just to head off a couple of things, I have the following packages installed:
Code: |
ati-drivers 3.14.6
xorg-x11 6.7.0-r3
x11-drm 4.3.0-r7
|
I did the:
Code: |
# VIDEO_CARDS="radeon" emerge x11-drm
# emerge ati-drivers
|
as specified in the Gentoo Linux ATI FAQ.
I have done:
to make sure I am using the proper opengl. I added "fglrx" to the /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.4 file to make sure the fglrx module is loaded prior to X starting. I also ran "fglrxconfig" and then renamed the XF86Config-4 file to xorg.conf, but that totally broke things, X wouldn't even start, it gave me this:
Code: |
(WW) fglrx: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:0) found
(EE) No devices detected
|
This is what I get from lspci:
Code: |
0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon RV250 If [Radeon 9000] (rev 01)
0000:01:00.1 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon RV250 [Radeon 9000] (Secondary) (rev 01)
|
So I used xorgconfig to generate an xorg.conf file. Anyways, this is what I get from glxinfo:
Code: |

lsmod shows that fglrx is loaded, and here are the relevent portions of my xorg.conf file:

So, how do I fix my 3D acceleration?
Thanks! |
