i just changed my internal network to accomedate a router. now afterwards one of my comps sometimes lose port 80(and others as 6667, but mostly just port 80).
AFter some times, not sure how much, hours, not minutes, it comes back. A reboot fixes the problem, but it comes atleast once a day.
None of my other comps are experiencing this problem.
The computer in question runs apache2 and ezbounce.
When the problem ocours i can still ping nominaly, ftp works. but sometimes a port is just gone.
A "telnet www.google.com 80" just stalls on the comp. if i "telnet tc 80"(computer in local network), it goes through fine. That makes me think it is the router.
But /etc/init.d/net.eth0 restart doesn't remedy the problem, even though a reboot do.
The router in question is a netgear rp614.
It have (d)dos protection, which might do stuff like that , but from inside the network??
Anyways, the protection is turned off.
Telnet to router port 80 works, as does links.
So to sumerize my problem:
netgear rp614.
some ports stop working on one of my comps, but no on the other two networks in the network.
other ports and ping works.
the affected ports works internaly. just not on the outside of the router.
computer in question runs apache and ezbounce. It appears to me that the ports are satuated, and closed.
Reboot of comp works, inet.eth0 restart doesn't.
Now i realize this isn't exactly a linux question, but i didn't know that when i started writing my question. And i still don't know of any better place to ask.
Sincerely
Tobias The Commie
