Check it out: w32codecs for amd64

Yeha...

I went to packages.gentoo.org yesterday in the evening. Because I was bored I scrolled down a little bit and saw that the w32codecs are testing now for amd64.

emerged them and everything seems to be fine.

Had no time to test it hardcore yet but wanted to tell this good news to everybody who didn't know it yet

Can someone confirm this works? ie: you can play .wmv's and all. Would be great

mplayer still refuses to use them when compiling for amd64 .. :-/

xine-ui isn't even giving me the option of specifying them in the configuration like it did for x86. Still doesn't work. Anybody had any luck with these codecs working for any media player on AMD64?

in a chroot it works fine.
but that's a bit annoying.
i really hope there will soon be a way to emerge 32 and 64 bit stuff and let them coexist
chrooting is stupid

anyway i don't understand why those win32 dll's don't work on amd64
