1) I have a Rockwell Connexant HSF modem. When i plug it in the boot process stops al hotplug/coldplug PCI. Not freeze, cause the caps lock light still toggle. I've modified the kernel to acces PCI: BIOS and then direct, but with the same problem. Any ideea on what can i try next ?
I have the drivers lined up for work but i cant get into linux with my modem.

2) With another modem Intel v92 HAM Data FAx voice, the boot process goes smooth, but i have no drivers for that one.

3) I've tried even a HCF modem, but the drivers from linuxant (1.03full)messed me up (after building the modules is complete it stops responding and all my KDE is trashed until i reboot - i've got to try 3-4 times to start the console and then i can't even "su" - it says something about fork failure -not a joke :D).

Any adivice on any of this modems would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Mine started doing this right after my last #emerge -u world. I'm looking into it myself right now. Mine actually froze on hdparm hdc, but I think it's more likely it was coldplug, which was right before it, since I use parallel startup.

Coldplug may be having some technical difficulties.

I ended up removing it from rc and using /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6. It boots much faster, and no threat of lockups.

Seems that coldplug does a few nasty things, at times, to detect hardware.
