everyone knows, than hdparm is great tool to improve disksubsystem perfomance. I know it. I have -d1 -c1 -X69 in my /etc/conf.d/hdparm for hdd. System boots ok (i mean during the boot there's a string that hdparms parameters applied ok). Then the system boots hdparm /dev/hda says that hdd is in udma2 (not 5 mode) and i've got about 11 mb/s hdparm -t rating (notebook hdd ). Ok - i run hdparm -d1 -c1 -X69 /dev/hda. It says allok - parameters applied. hdd -i /dev/hda says it's still in udma2 (hdd + system support udma5). Now i run hdparm -t /dev/hda again - and viola - get 15 mb/s. I dont want to run it everyboot Config is ok - so i don't know what's with it... |

Have you tried using hdparm without the -X69 argument? The man pages for hdparm say it's pretty dangerous, so you might want to get rid of that. You could also try using -c3 for 32-bit transfers. |
