This is the situation for me, i hope some dev will come into help fpr all of us who own an iMac G5.

- PowerPC 64: Using LiveCD-2004.3 with imacg5 kernel the system does not boot up, it seems it can't recognize the SATA adapter....

- PowerPC 32: Using LiveCD-2004.3 with G5 kernel, the system starts booting, but it stops when liveCD says: "Attempting to mount CD - /newroot/dev/cdroms/*". After that message normal booting sequence stops and it starts a BusyBox / ash session where no fundamental tool is present (mac-fdisk / rp-pppoe / anythingexceptbasecommands)
I believe this issue is somehow connected to the cdrom drive not being seen / recognized... If a dev tells me what infos i can post to help more, i'd be glad to do so...

One important thing: it looks like Jocelyn Meyer realized a patch set that should get linux-2.6.10 to work nice on any iMac G5... the link is here:
http://perso.magic.fr/l_indien/linux-ImacG5/index.htm

I tried to repackage myself the LiveCD using that precompiled kernel with no success, but i'm not sure about the procedure i used, it would be nice if a LiveCD developer could try to do the same thing.... it would be much appreciated! :) By the way a bug has been open for some time now about this issue: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68970 I also tried to email tgall, but i couldn't get in contact with him....

For your information i tried the PowerPC LiveCD on a G4 system and it boots correctly. Also i like to point out that Apple's Bluetooth mouse and keyboard work smoothly.

Bye
