So here I am, doing all those finy changes how to load kernel (nousb etc).
Well, here's the actual problem.
I got amd64 3000+, asus k8v-x (via kt800), 512MB jada jada computer.
I tried booting from a livecd based on x86 systems. All worked out great!
Then I happen to notice a sixtyfour bit livecd edition. It starts normal (except little kernels bug about cool'n'quiet technology (numpst bios error must be 1 or something, I tried to put it off along with acpi2, different error, same result).
So now it's detecting my firewire ports etc, all goes as planned.. Autoscrambling root password for security reasons...
Then it hits me with a login. I tried root and pushed enter (as no password).. login incorrect.
So I bet it's something to do with that fancy little shell which it pops out (as it did in x86 livecd). So I'm not getting that shell window open .. ALT + F12 tells me something like this:
You need to setup mousedev and mouse in /etc/conf.d/gpm first
device-mapper: error adding target tot table
dm-linear: Device lookup failed
Help please !
Is there anyway I can stop kernel to stop loading mouse devices? |

I don't know the answer to your problem but I ame having a problem with it saying this when I boot from a live cd.
Code: | * You need to setup MOUSEDEV and MOUSE in /etc/conf .d/gpm first |
The post that will tell you if I get that figured out is under installing gentoo...
"universal liveCD boot MOUSEDEV and MOUSE problem"
The title might change if I get it solved _________________ Motherboard = GA-K8NS
