I have just finished my gentoo install remotely using SSH. I cannot remove the Gentoo CD from the PC I'm installing on so thus cannot reboot.

Can I install xorg and other apps without having rebooted to let fstab mount all the drives as they normally would be ?

I'm at work and bored - I don't want to waste the compiling time I have when my computer is idle so was thus hoping to compile X, fluxbox, firefox, evolution

Thanks

You can install everything you want without having rebooted as long as you're within the chroot.. Just don't forget an etc-update, env-update, source /etc/profile when you're done with it.
