Hi, Im about to back up my .maildir, and I'd like to know the maximum number of files allowed on a DVD, using iso9660.
Anyone?
Se the thing is that I just counted and I've got 78,000 emails (63 thousand of them spam) and I dont want use up a dvd for no reason... (78000? I collect spam for researching purposes...) _________________ http://blahonga.yanson.org - little geekblog

according to this:
http://www.inthelight.co.nz/personal/pcstuff.htm
2^16 in root folder and 253^16 for each directory (although a dvd does not hold enough space for that many entries)
For best results tar your maildir because reading large directories with lots of small files back from dvd can be painfully slow even on a fast dvd drive. |
