ok - not sure whether this is my problem or it needs to go to the bug s.gentoo.org

I've downloaded and burned the pentium 3 grp install cd for 1.4rc2 (have also tried the experimental ut2003 live cd) - both work on my one pc but not on the other

box#1 - p2-400 640mb 2x13G IDE w/ plextor ATAPI CDRW 12/10/32A

box#2 - 2x p3-1G 1.5gb dual channel scsi using the lsi/symbios 53c1010-33 w/ 2x9Gb + 1x 36Gb w/ plextor scsi CDRW 12/10/32S - channel a = 3 hdds channel b = CDRW

both boxes have 1.4 rc1 installed - the previous livecds worked on both boxes but this rc2 grp cd only works on box#1

on box#2 I get the following:

scanning for qlogicfc (notable for the delay here)

then I choose 41 for the keymap, that loads and then I get

Mounting the CD
mount: mounting /newroot/dev/cdroms/* on /newroot/mnt/cdrom failed: no such file or directory
CD Not found
Umount: /newroot : Device or resource busy

Busybox v.... (omitted for time)
Enter 'help' ...
sh: can't access tty : job control turned off

If I type help I get a minimal list of commands available

I can move around with ls but I don't have a cdrom

I've tried various options at the boot prompt

gentoo noapic
gentoo acpi=no
gentoo noscsi

but so far no dice

so 1. can I do something with this? (I know I could use a previous install cd and grab the rc2 stages but I thought this new livecd would be a way to speed up the process)

2. can anyone verify if this is a bug - I don't want to post it if it is (a) not a bug (b) already known

thanks

tj
