|
|
Well it has been quite a few days now since I was roaming the forums in search of solution for this simple scenario:
1. Thunderbird as email client
2. Antivirus scaning (ClamAV) of all outgoing an incoming emails
3. All of this excluding any mayor MTA package like qmail, postfix etc
I have tried almost all of the HOWTO's including solutions for big systems and got pretty lost, but what I really need is just a simplest solution of all. It seems to me that thunderbird has a mechanism of its own to send and receive through smtp and pop3, and if so how can the messages be intercepted by av and/or spamcheck. Oh, and I have a couple of providers some with SSL and some without, all of whom i can reach no matter how I connect to the Net (use only one for sending). It can be done with KMail very easy through wizards, but I would really prefer using Thunderbird...
Sure would appreciate some advice, so thanx in advance... |

Could P3Scan help with running ClamAV on incoming mail? AFAIK for outgoing mail you'd need to set up a sendmail milter (or some other MTA). I'm not aware of a standalone outgoing scanner. _________________ The free market gave me gonorrhea. |

Well thanx for the tip, P3Scan can do that but has some tricky parts cause itś been developed primarily for Slack... spent the whole afternoon in precompiling of kernel and similar stuff just to get it to work (needs iptables, then precompile alsa and other stuff, ouch).
Anyway, during the process I discovered that all of my providers use ClamAV for all incoming and outgoing traffic, so after all there is really no need to use scanning, maybe once a week whole mailbox -> cron
Thanx my socialist friend...
PS do you by any chance play any ice hockey? |
