|
|
Hi.
I did not do a classic install - I have windows on hda, and gentoo on hdb. I have finished the install of gentoo 1.4_rc1-r2, but when it comes up to when the grub should be loaded, I get a screen full of Code: | GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB ... [and so on forever] | . It appears to be in a infanate loop of writing the word GRUB on the screen. In case it makes any difference, note that hdb is the slave (duh), and that I have configured my MB to boot off of that HD. How do I get grub to work? |

looks like it hasn't written to the mbr properly.
you might wanna wipe the mbr, and try again, or emerge lilo and try it. _________________ Kororaa install method - have Gentoo up and running quickly and easily, fully automated with an installer! |

That would be great - If I knew how to wipe a MBR. Thanks though. I wish everthing in computers was as easy as trying again. |

To wipe the master boot record, use fdisk (the DOS utility, not the Linux one):
and I'm afraid you'll have to reinstall it via your Windows system/rescue CD.
There may be a problem with your disk, though, the GRUBGRUBGRUB thing has been reported with corrupt disks a lot. |

Don't panic. It could also be just a typo in your grub.conf, you know. Care to post that? |
