Hi, I was emerge kdegraphics on my server, running KDE stable. There was a new package of it, and it fails like this:
Code: |
grep: /usr/lib/libungif.la: No such file or directory
/bin/sed: can't read /usr/lib/libungif.la: No such file or directory
libtool: link: `/usr/lib/libungif.la' is not a valid libtool archive
make[3]: *** [libkdeinit_kuickshow.la] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/mnt/120/tmp/portage/kdegraphics-3.3.2-r2/work/kdegraphics-3.3.2/kuickshow/src'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/mnt/120/tmp/portage/kdegraphics-3.3.2-r2/work/kdegraphics-3.3.2/kuickshow'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/mnt/120/tmp/portage/kdegraphics-3.3.2-r2/work/kdegraphics-3.3.2'
make: *** [all] Error 2

The weird thing is: on my desktop I am running M~ KDE and didnt have this problem, so I did locate libungif.la.... isnt there on my server, is there on my desktop. On the server:
Code: |
# emerge -p libungif
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild N ] media-libs/libungif-4.1.3
|
So I am wondering why it isnt there. It should be some dependency of kdegraphics I think. emerge -ept showed me libungif is some dependency of qt. Now I am emerging libungif and then kdegraphics again. |

coz you use giflib instead of libungif and these two block each other. libungif will not be used in the future. anyway this is a bug which could be solved by reemerging imlib
try emerge imlib before you emerge kde |

Same problem, but re-emerging imlib and imlib2 did not solve the problem.
Any ideas ? |

Ok, solved it by linking /usr/lib/imlib-libungif.la to /usr/lib/libungif.la |

Here are some tips. I ran revdep-rebuild. I made sure I had cleaned out any old .revdep junk in root's home directory first. In the output from revdep-rebuild under "Checking dynamic linking consistency..." it showed a few things that relied on libungif. So I can either try to re-emerge them or just nuke the heck out of them. Or, as I did, a combination of both. As I sit here now I am rebuilding kdegraphics again. It's too bad it does not fail earlier in the build. It is taking forever to get this sorted out. But I will prevail!
