mencoder or transcode would be the programs to use. Be prepared for a LOT of RTFMing though...
Oh, and if you want mencoder, install mplayer. Mencoder comes with it.
mplayer will play divx, along with anything else you can get your grubby little hands on. This is the only media player you need. _________________ Registered Linux User #363420

Oh, and convert wma to mp3:
1. Convert WMA -> WAV:
mplayer in.wma -vo null -vc dummy -ao pcm -aofile tmp.wav
2. Convert WAV -> MP3:
lame --preset=standard tmp.wav out.mp3
Try messing around with the --preset option. "--preset=standard" gives VBR, and it tries to make the output indistinguishable from the input. Average bitrate usually 160-220kbps when encoding from CD. I strongly recommend this option for all music encoding: it gives incredible quality.
Also try --preset=128 to get 128kbps ABR (average bit rate). Doesn't need to be 128, can be any number.
Also: "--tt title", "--ta artist", "--tn number", "--tl album" to set the id3 info.
Note that encoding WMA -> MP3 will always result in poor quality. If you have the CD, use that instead of the WMA. _________________ Registered Linux User #363420 |

read the fine/foolish/f*cking manual. if you read the article in wikipedia, its worth noting that the word "f*cking" is offensive to some people ( specially when given as advice ) and should be changed. |
