hello
I have an old proliant 2500 with dual pentium pros (200mhz) and 512mb ram. When I try to install gentoo 2004.2 (with smp option) or 2004.3 (smp already in kernel) the computer hangs, normall when it looks for this module.
However, if I run 2004.2, with no smp support, then it works.
How can I get round this? How well would me computer function is I installed it with 1 cpu and then emabled dual processors int he kernel afterwards? Would this work? (I appreciate that the install will take longer!)
thanks and I will welcome any suggestions.

Everything will be fine. The only side effect is the longer installation time. |
